The HGTV hit show “Fixer Upper” is leaving us, and so have Chip Gaines signature long locks. Fans of the show have always had strong opinions of his long hair, but now they’ll have to get used to seeing him without it. Well, Chip’s wife, Joanna Gaines, shared a photo of him on Instagram last night of his newly bald head — and it’s all for a great cause.

What Does Chip Gaines Look Like Now?

How Did it Happen?

Last week, Chip made an Instagram post telling fans that he knew they all hated his long hair and that it was time for them to put their money where their mouth is. And… they did! He had people click a link through his profile to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and the more they donated, the more he would cut off. He even said, “Who knows, maybe if you really exceed my expectations…I’ll buzz it all off.”

It’s come to my attention that most of you hate my current hairstyle. But how MUCH do you hate it? Now’s the time to put your money where your mouth is. ⠀ ⠀ So here’s the deal: Next week, Jo and I are visiting the beautiful kids at Target House with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. No family ever pays @StJude for treatment, travel or food—so basically, we want to bring them a giant check from YOU to help cover costs—lets come together to do something big to bless these kiddos. ⠀ ⠀ Donate to @StJude through the link in my profile, and the more money we raise over the next FOUR days, the shorter my hair goes. That’s a promise. And, who knows, maybe if you really exceed my expectations…I’ll buzz it all off. #OperationHaircut

Well, it looks like everyone DID exceed his expectations because all of his hair is gone! Chip and Joanna visited St. Jude’s Target House this week in Memphis, and he got it all shaved off.

Why Did He Do It?

For the couple, it wasn’t about the hair at all. That was merely an incentive for people to donate to St. Jude’s. Joanna wrote in her post: “We are leaving Memphis changed. Kiddos of @stjude we go with your faces on our minds and your stories in our hearts. Thank you for letting us be a part of your home at Target House. We are cheering you on every step of the way.”

Thank you Chip and Joanna for bringing awareness to such an important organization, St. Jude’s Children Hospital!
