You may choose to let your chest hair fly free. You may choose to trim it down a bit. And you may even choose to completely shave it all off! Whatever your choice is, we want to help you out. We have created this ULTIMATE guide to men’s chest hair grooming — something that isn’t talked about too often!

You may not want to go completely bare.

Have you been wondering: “Do women like chest hair?” Well, it’s actually been said that women don’t like a bare chest on a man. So although you may not want to shave all of your chest hair off, you may want to at least trim it!

Trim first, then shave.

If you’re choosing to go bare, but your hair is pretty long, it probably isn’t a good idea to go right into shaving it. The hair is probably too long and it will just create a huge mess. Trim down the hair first with clippers or a trimmer. You’ll find that the razor will be much easier to use afterward!

Use short strokes.

This is a given when shaving ANY part of the body! Short strokes give you much better control, which will help prevent any nicks or cuts that you may have gotten using long strokes.

Shave in the direction of hair growth.

This usually means that you should be shaving downward. You may not get as close of a shave, but it will give you MUCH less irritation.

Use a quality razor.

Using a quality razor is a must. You really should be using a nice, 5-blade razor.

You may have to go over some spots more than once.

And there’s nothing wrong with that! You aren’t going to get every spot that you want to hit right away, and some areas are harder to shave than others.

Irritation may happen, but is treatable and preventable!

Be sure to always rinse your chest off when you’re done. This is a necessary step and may be all that you need to do, but a post-shave balm never hurts. It may even be necessary for some people! Also be sure to moisturize the area to prevent redness.

Between shaving sessions, keep exfoliating and cleansing your skin regularly! (These are things you should be doing anyway.) This will help you prevent razor bumps and burns!
